For those of you that weren't able to attend the presentation Tracey gave on Friday, I compiled some of the information for you.
- The website for UA Local 787 Apprenticeship program is apprenticehvacr.ca/
- Must have grade 12 OSSD, Grade 12 English, Grade 12 Math, and Grade 11 or 12 Physics or Chemistry (you can get a note of equivalency)
- You must have a college diploma in HVAC to be able to join the union. 4th semester students are allowed to apply in January.
- The hire rate for the GTA is about 75%-85% with around 300-400 applicants a year. 100% around Thunder Bay area.
- The system is based on a point ranking system, the more points you have, the higher you score, the better chance you have of being selected.
- The union recognizes certificates such as; TDG, WHMIS, Confined Spaces, Fall Arrest, Lift Truck awareness, Lockout/Tagout awareness, Fire safety awareness, etc. (I'll see if I can get the exact list from Tracey.)

- Salary as a level 1 apprentice: $45,000 - $47,000
- Salary as a Journeyperson: $100,000 - $110,000
- This program is only for level 1 apprentices, if you've already started an apprenticeship and want to join this program you must cancel your apprenticeship first.
- You can apply during the dates of December 1st to February 28th every year.

2. Confined Space
3. Crane and Slinging Operations
4. Electrical Safety and Lockout
5. Elevated Work Platform Safety
6. Fall Arrest
7. First Aid and CPR
8. Forklift Safety
9. Ladder Safety
10. Scissors and Man-lift Safety
11. Transportation of Dangerous Goods
12. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
